What is Sudden Infant Death Syndrome?

Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (S.I.D.S.) occurs when a seemingly healthy baby dies in their sleep. In the United States, SIDS is the leading cause of death among babies from 1 month to 1 year old, affecting over 3500 babies each year. A safe sleeping environment is one of the key prevention factors.

What We Do

Portable alternative crib (P.A.C)

We distribute P.A.Cs - certified, simple baby boxes with padding at the bottom that serves as a safe sleeping space for an infant. For each P.A.C purchased, one is given to a family in need.

programs

We provide families with information on best practices for safe sleep and infant and child care. We also provide "train the trainer workshops" for organizations with safe sleep & child care initiatives.

events

We host family oriented events every year that focus on teaching young bodies, young minds and young lives that promote safe sleep, physical fitness & equip families with essential resources.

December 2017

We believe that a (baby) box may be a good option in cases where the mother opts for a box given her housing situation, or when there are no other options and a safe sleep space must be provided on the spot.

Our Impact

We want to make sure that no infant dies because of an unsafe sleeping space.  Parents and caregivers need essential tools to ensure the reduction of death due to SIDS.  We recognize that each touch point with an infant is an opportunity to save a life.  That's why we educate everyone from the youngest member of the family to the eldest about best practices for infant and child care. We also collect data to generate evidence around the use of the P.A.C as a safe sleeping space.
